Kumundhoo
Kumundhoo is a serene village located in the southern region of Thiladhunmathi Atoll (Haa Dhaalu Atoll), identified by the English alphabet reference number B-13. With a total population of 1,499 residents—comprising 762 males and 737 females—the village has a resident population of 1,206, along with 75 foreign nationals. Despite its small size, Kumindu features 12 shops, 3 cafes and restaurants, 1 oil and gas sales outlet, and 2 garages. However, the island currently does not have any guest houses. The highest level of education available locally is up to Grade 10. Essential services such as electricity are available 24 hours a day, and a water and sewerage system is under development.
Several key infrastructure projects are ongoing in Kumindu, including the implementation of the Water and Sewerage Project, construction of a harbor channel, development of a volleyball court, establishment of a new Public Health Emergency (PHE) office, building of a power station, and the construction of 12 new classrooms, as well as an RTL ferry hut to improve connectivity. These efforts reflect the island’s commitment to enhancing community facilities and services.
