Article 24 of the Decentralization of Administrative Areas Act 2010/07 defines the services to be provided by the village council to the people of a village.
1- Construction and maintenance of village roads.
2- Dispose of waste at the village level in a manner that does not cause inconvenience to the people.
3- Repair and maintenance of the port and construction and operation of the village port and ferry terminal.
4- To take measures to prevent erosion in accordance with the laws of Dhvehirahje and to repair and maintain the roads and canals of the village.
5- Operate and maintain public services such as electricity, water, toilets and sewerage systems in accordance with the laws of Dhvehirahje.
6- Provide primary health care and basic health care services in accordance with the laws of Dhvehirahje.
7- To provide preschool services and to plan and implement adult educational and professional development programs in accordance with the laws of Dhvehirahje.
8- Running the village library, archiving the official documents of the village, keeping the historical and ancient documents of the village safely in the library and providing access to various information from the library with the help of modern facilities.
9- Maintenance of social centres, public playgrounds and lands and provision of sports facilities, public parks and recreational services.
10- To operate the social security service center in accordance with the laws of Dhvehirahje, to take measures to prevent domestic violence, to provide protection and assistance to victims of such acts and to establish a system to assist and care for the elderly and people with special needs.
11- In accordance with the Land Act of Dhvehi Raajje and not in conflict with the Land Use Plan of the village, land allocation, land and building registration and construction in accordance with the building rules of Dhvehi Raajje and all rules made by government ministries Maintain records of all land transactions conducted by various parties in connection with the village land in accordance with the Land Act of Dhvehi Raajje and other laws.
12- Compiling and maintaining the village land register and providing the necessary information to the agency compiling and maintaining the National Land Register.
13- Maintenance of mosques.
14- Maintaining the cemetery and establishing a system for funeral arrangements.
15- Maintenance of ancient sites and cultural activities.
16- Observing religious and national days and occasions and holding religious and national celebrations.
17- To arrange for street sweeping and cleaning, to maintain the cleanliness of the village and to decorate the village.
18- Street lighting at night.
19- Pest control.
20- Establish a system to provide assistance in emergencies and incidents.
21- To check the compliance of shops, hotels, restaurants, cafes, guesthouses and public markets in accordance with the laws of Dhvehirahje.
22- To regulate and maintain the movement of people on the roads and the driving of motorized and non-motorized vehicles on the roads in accordance with the laws of Dhvehi Raajje.
23. Assist the judicial courts and government agencies in the execution of the judgments of the judicial courts.
24. To issue, revoke, register and cancel permits prescribed by various ministries of the Government through the Council in respect of matters within the scope of the powers of the Village Council and matters entrusted to the Village Council under various Acts.
25- To keep records of new births and deaths, to take and maintain village statistics, and to write in the registry of the village the register of residents, non-residents, and foreigners residing in the village.
26- Provision of other services required to be provided by the village council under various laws.
